There have been a lot of changes in recent years when it comes to custom kitchen backsplash trends. New design ideas for kitchen backsplashes are becoming hot.

Kitchen backsplashes used to be just an unremarkable area measuring the standard four inches high. These kitchen backsplashes were usually used between the stove and sink to provide protection from moisture and grease. Now they can be found anywhere there is a counter and they are more and more turning into an important design feature. Kitchen backsplashes can be created from a variety of materials including concrete, natural stone, metals, mosaics, glass, and ceramic tile.

Ceramic Tiles - Ceramic tiles because they are available in a vast array of colors, textures, and finishes can offer endless design possibilities. They give the budget-conscious the opportunity to create a custom look and save on installation. One downside however is that the grout needs be cleaned and resealed fairly often. There are many types of distinctive and attractive tiled murals depicting classic and fine art available, for use as kitchen backsplashes. You could have designs painted on tiles as well. You can get decorative tiles to go with the theme of your kitchen. If your kitchen has a fruit theme, you can have apples, pears, raspberries, blueberries, or more painted on your tiles.

Stainless Steel – Having a stainless steel kitchen backsplash can make the perfect design statement for your kitchen. Stainless steel tiles could also be a good way to make your kitchen look more exciting and fresh. Solid stainless steel backsplashes, which have been used for years in restaurant kitchens, are starting to gain in popularity for use in the home kitchen. They are available in a variety of patterns and finishes, including satin or matte finishes.
