Although the possibilities are virtually endless when it comes to creating kitchen floor plans, there are five basic categories that most floor plans for kitchens fall under…
U-shape kitchen floor plans are great when it comes to developing an efficient kitchen workstation. With the storage space and countertops on three sides, the space is used quite effectively. In addition, the work triangle is less likely to get interrupted with u-shape kitchen floor plans since the work area is walled on three sides. Conversely, this design is not so efficient when it comes to entertaining, or if more than one cook is working in the kitchen. L-shape kitchen floor plans effectively create two separate workstations and can be more efficient than the U-shape plan when it comes to maximizing space. This shape is not well-suited for smaller kitchens, and care needs to be taken to organize the workstation in order to create an efficient work triangle. Another option with kitchen floor plans is the Island plan. Of all kitchen floor plans, this is considered by many to be the best and most efficient. To be implemented, however, you will need fairly substantial space in your kitchen. One space-saving variation is the peninsula design, which has one end of the island connected to a wall. Galley kitchen floor plans involve setting up workstations on opposite walls. Of the many design plans for kitchen remodeling, this is about the best for small kitchens. It is difficult, however, to create a successful work triangle with this plan. Further, it does not provide for a good central gathering spot for guests and family. The last of the kitchen floor plans we will cover is the One Wall plan. As the name suggests, this plan involves putting the entire workstation on just one wall. This plan saves the most space, but is the least efficient to work within. Creating your design plans for kitchen remodeling should be a fun and exciting process. Decide on the floor plan that is right for you --- and then have fun filling in all the details!
